About PFLAG NYC

PFLAG NYC is the original chapter of PFLAG, the nationwide movement that unites parents, families, friends, and allies together with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) community to make life better for all LGBTQ+ people. Across the country in all 50 states, from small towns to big cities, PFLAG is committed to creating a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed.

In New York City, PFLAG NYC works to ensure LGBTQ+ people find support and affirmation in every facet of their lives, especially Loving Families, Safe Schools, and Inclusive Communities.

• We help families stay close and keep relationships strong when a loved one comes out. Everyone in a family — parents, other family members, and LGBTQ+ people alike — are all welcome at our meetings.

  • We support ALL families with general meetings, the TransFamilies Project, and also in special communities, like API Rainbow Parents, the Black Family Circle, and El Amor Hace La Familia with partner OASIS.

• We work with schools and students to create proud school communities where all young people feel accepted and able to thrive. Bring our Safe Schools Program to your school!

• We educate the public so LGBTQ people of all ages can look forward to a bright and successful future.
